SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers figure to take the field with their fourth different starting corrnerback of the season Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers.

The latest addition to the starting lineup is someone they figured to have all along: Emmanuel Moseley.

Moseley is expected to return to the starting lineup after sitting out the first two games of the season with a knee injury, a source told NBC Sports Bay Area. Veteran Josh Norman is scheduled to start on the other side, the source said.

Rookie Deommodore Lenoir started the first two games of the season in place of Moseley. Lenoir, a fifth-round draft pick from Oregon, ranks fifth on the team with eight tackles with a team-leading three passes defensed through two weeks.

Norman, 33, whom the 49ers signed on Sept. 6, entered the starting lineup last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles after Jason Verrett sustained a season-ending knee injury in Week 1.

Norman was inactive for the first game of the season. He had two tackles against the Eagles. He was called for two pass-interference penalties but did not have a pass completed against his coverage in the game.

“I was pleased with Josh," 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans said Thursday. "I thought he stepped in and did really well. He competed. One thing about Josh, he competes every snap, no matter who he lines up against he's going to compete.

"Has great energy. He's great on the sideline with the guys. He's a true vet, true leader, it’s been awesome being around Josh and he's just fit in with our guys really well and he's done a great job for the couple of weeks that he's been here.”

A 10-year professional, Norman has appeared in 121 games with 96 starts. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2015 while with the Carolina Panthers.

Moseley enters his fourth NFL season after signing with the 49ers as an undrafted rookie from Tennessee in 2018. He has 17 starts in the 29 games in which he has appeared.

Moseley is the only 49ers non-rookie cornerback who is under contract through this season. In March, he signed a two-year contract worth nearly $9.5 million, including nearly $4.5 million in fully guaranteed money.
