The A's already proved to be buyers before Monday's MLB trade deadline when they acquired infielder Tommy La Stella from the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. There certainly was reason to believe Oakland had more moves up its sleeves, too.
Those plans might have changed with Sunday's news that a member of the A's traveling party tested positive for the coronavirus. General manager David Forst believes they will be able to take care of both issues at hand, while making it clear his team's health is at the top of his to-do list.
"I think we're able to do more than one thing at a time, but this is our priority -- making sure our people are healthy and safe," Forst told Bay Area reporters on a Sunday morning conference call. "Since last night, working on this, we'll continue checking in on everybody during the day.

"We'll be able to handle the trade deadline if something comes up."
The A's entered Sunday 2.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros in the AL West. Their scheduled road game against the Astros was postponed Sunday due to the positive test.
While the A's have the second-most wins in the AL, many believe they could be buyers for another starting pitchers. There seems to be a long list of options that could fill Oakland's needs, too.

No matter how much the A's want to improve their roster for a chance at a World Series run, it's clear health is priority No. 1. The A's are self-isolating in their Houston hotel on Sunday, and began contact tracing late Saturday night. They hope to receive their latest test results Monday morning to know if this is an isolated incident or a bigger issue.
The A's are scheduled to start a three-game series against the Mariners in Seattle starting on Tuesday, but it's unclear if Sunday's news will affect those games.
