And on the third day, Jesús Luzardo will start for the A's.

The young lefty was named Oakland's starting pitcher for Game 3 of the American League Division Series against Houston Astros.

The A’s currently are down 0-2 in the best-of-five series after Tuesday's 5-2 loss, so Wednesday is their final chance to stay in it.

Luzardo pitched against the Astros twice during the 2020 campaign. In 12.2 innings, he struck out 12 batters and boasted a 2.84 ERA across those frames.

Still, the Astros have been undefeated this postseason in four games. Outfielder George Springer alone is batting .667 with a 2.111 OPS in the division series.

Luzardo will be pitching at Dodger Stadium with a mid-day start time which is an Achilles heel for pitchers, to say the least. He's also coming off of a rough outing against the Chicago White Sox in the AL Wild Card Series.

“Yeah, I mean, the ball flies -- any mistakes, there’s no pop flies here,” A’s Game 1 starter Chris Bassitt said after his outing on Monday. “Pop flies are home runs, so yeah, I think everyone experienced that.”

On the other side of it, however, the A’s will not be facing Astros’ pitcher Zack Greinke in Game 3, who manager Dusty Baker said is experiencing arm soreness. Jose Urquidy will start for Houston.
