Source: A's interested in re-signing starting pitcher Trevor Cahill

The A's have expressed interest in re-signing free agent starting pitcher Trevor Cahill, a source told NBC Sports California on Tuesday.

Cahill, 30, also has drawn interest from multiple other teams. The right-hander went 7-4 with a 3.76 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 21 games last season, including 20 starts.

It's not surprising the A's would at least try to re-sign Cahill, especially after non-tendering starter Mike Fiers last week. Oakland's entire starting rotation from the end of last season is now on the free-agent market.

Cahill had incredible success at the Coliseum last season, going 5-1 with a 1.84 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. On the road, it was a completely different story, as Cahill was 2-3 with a 6.41 ERA and 1.58 WHIP.

Cahill began his MLB career with the A's as a 21-year-old in 2009. He was named an All-Star in 2010, finishing that season 18-8 with a 2.97 ERA.

After stints with the Diamondbacks, Braves, Cubs, Padres and Royals, Cahill rejoined the A's in March on a one-year, $1.5 million deal. That number figures to go up next season, wherever he ends up signing, although he still figures to be in Oakland’s price range.
