Aaron Rowand recalls funny story about Juan Uribe being bad with names

See ball, hit ball, know your teammates' names.

Former Giants infielder Juan Uribe proved fairly adept at the first two things on that list over the course of his 16-year MLB career. Apparently, though, he was never very good at the latter.

NBC Sports Chicago held a telethon Wednesday, during which a few Uribe stories were shared by some of his former teammates. Former Giants outfielder Aaron Rowand, who was Uribe's teammate for two seasons in San Francisco, recounted a Uribe memory from a past bus ride from the ballpark to the airport.

"I grabbed the mic and I told Uribe, 'We’re going to play a game. We’re going to see who you can name on your team,' " Rowand recalled. "So he went down the aisle trying to name everybody. He got to our backup catcher Steve Holm and he said, ‘Uhhhh, No. 20.'"

Apparently, that was nothing new for Uribe. Another former Giant -- catcher A.J. Pierzynski -- told similar stories from their time together on the Chicago White Sox.

Uribe had some big hits with the Giants, and became a fan favorite in helping them win the World Series in 2010.
