Giants put McGee on IL with oblique strain, make other moves

There was more bad news for the Giants on the injury front Friday afternoon.

Prior to the series opener against the Atlanta Braves, the Giants placed closer Jake McGee on the Injured List.

McGee's injury is not believed to be season-ending.

All three of Tyler Rogers, Dominic Leone and Tony Watson are clear choices to fill in as closer until McGee returns. The Giants have plenty of candidates for the high-leverage role, but losing another key relief arm might not bode well for a bullpen that has been heavily taxed as of late.

The Giants filled McGee's roster spot with reliever Jay Jackson. The return of infielder Donovan Solano triggered the option of Thairo Estrada to Triple-A Sacramento.
