The Giants have their shortstop locked up through the 2021 season as Brandon Crawford put ink to paper on a six-year extension before last season.

But, in 2016, San Francisco also had to turn shortstop Ruben Tejada for infield depth at second and third base. Tejada suited up in 13 big-league games for the Giants last season, with the majority coming at the hot corner.

On Monday, the 27-year-old, signed a one-year minor-league deal with the Yankees, according to multiple reports, which also includes an invite to spring training. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed the signing to the New York Daily News, while Tejada's agent did so to the New York Times.

Tejada finished with five hits -- three doubles -- in 13 games for the Giants. He totaled a .156/.270/.250 slash line and knocked in two runs. On defense, Tejada committed two errors with the Giants, both coming at third base.

For his seven-year career, Tejada is a .252/.327/.320 hitter with 10 home runs. Tejada spent his first six years in New York with the Mets before playing for the Cardinals and Giants last season.

Tejada will make $1.35 million this season if he makes it to majors with the Yankees, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
