If you checked the scores after the first round of the 2019 U.S. Open, you'd probably think they were from the February Pro-Am at Pebble Beach and not the toughest test in golf.

Pebble Beach was soft and gettable during Thursday's first round, with a number of players putting up low scores to put themselves in position to claim the year's third major title.

Justin Rose birdied his final three holes of the day to take the solo lead at 6-under-par. He leads Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Louis Oosthuizen, and Aaron Wisse by one shot.

Tiger Woods grinded through his first round to card a 1-under-70 to tie for 28th place.
