One of the questions hanging over the Kings' search for a new front office executive officially has been answered. After the team confirmed Monte McNair as the new general manager, they sent out a second press release announcing that Joe Dumars now has the title of Chief Strategy Officer of the organization.

Dumars, who joined the franchise as a consultant last summer, will, according to the release, "help drive strategy across the organization’s entire portfolio of activities, including business, basketball, new ventures, entertainment and real estate."

The Hall of Fame player and former Detroit Pistons executive aided in the search for a new GM after Vlade Divac stepped down from his general manager position on Aug. 14, when he was reportedly asked to share duties with Dumars

With McNair now expected to run the basketball side of the organization from his new role with the Kings, Dumars will aide with a variety of on the court and off the court ventures and report directly to chairman Vivek Ranadivé.

“Joe’s business acumen along with his deep experience in the league will serve as a valuable resource across the organization,” Ranadivé said via press release. “He has achieved proven results in the corporate world on top of many notable accolades as a player and basketball executive, and I am excited to have him serve in this position.
