The Kings have made their first move of trade deadline week.
Sacramento has acquired 22-year-old forward Kessler Edwards and cash in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for the draft rights to David Michineau, the team announced Wednesday morning. The Kings also waived Deonte Burton.
Shams Charania of The Athletic first reported the news on Tuesday, citing sources.
Edwards, 22, is a 6-foot-8 forward that was selected by Brooklyn in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft out of Pepperdine.
In 62 career NBA games, Edwards averaged 4.8 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 39.9 percent from the floor. He logged 6.8 points and 4.6 rebounds in 24 career games as a starter.

Edwards has appeared in 14 games for the Nets this season, although he has played over five minutes just three times. In 14 games with the G League Long Island Nets this season, Edwards registered 16.9 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range.

Burton signed a 10-day contract with the Kings on Jan. 30, appearing in two games for Sacramento.
Per Wojnarowski, Sacramento plans to give Edwards a chance to play with the G League Stockton Kings.
The NBA trade deadline is set for 12 p.m. PT Thursday.
