Davion locks up Donovan Mitchell, epically snatches ball

Davion Mitchell made his presence felt on the defensive end in the first half of the Kings' first home game of the season Friday night.

Early in the second quarter, the 2021 No. 9 overall draft pick was tasked with guarding Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell, who also happens to be a mentor to the Kings' rookie, and the pupil took advantage of his teacher.

Davion locked down Donovan, and when the Jazz guard drove to the basket, he had the ball stolen from him.

Davion's robbery was vicious, and Kings fans at Golden 1 Center loved it.

Davion took the ball and started up court while Terence Davis was streaking up the sideline. Mitchell threw up the lob and Davis laid the ball in to give the Kings a 33-24 lead.

Davion's nickname is "Off Night," which originated from college matchups with current Kings teammate Tyrese Haliburton, and it's already becoming clear that the rookie is going to make life miserable for the best offensive players in the NBA.
