Damian Jones' journey through the NBA's Pacific Division will continue with a stop in Sacramento.

The Kings intend to sign the former first-round draft pick to a 10-day contract, a source confirmed to NBC Sports California's James Ham on Saturday.

Jones, who was drafted by the Warriors in 2016, started the 2020-21 NBA season with the Phoenix Suns before being waived at the end of February. He just completed two 10-day contracts with the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

With the Lakers' centers battling injuries, Jones started six of the eight games he played for LA and averaged 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 14.0 minutes. He last suited up for the Lakers on March 20.

Jones, 25, came to the NBA out of Vanderbilt with immense potential and the Warriors hoped the No. 30 pick could meet expectations. But he never found solid footing and was traded after his third season to the Atlanta Hawks for Omari Spellman. Golden State kicked in a 2026 second-round draft pick to complete the deal.

In three seasons with the Warriors, Jones played in just 49 games and started 22 of those contests. He found a little more success with the Hawks, but wasn't re-signed after the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.

The Kings' impending addition of Jones comes a few hours after they officially waived wing DaQuan Jeffries.

The Kings need size and rebounding, so bringing in the 6-foot-11 Jones should help in those areas.
