NBC SPORTS CALIFORNIA ADDS 1989 A's-GIANTS WORLD SERIES GAMES TO “CLASSIC” GAMES SCHEDULE

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – June 18, 2020 – NBC Sports California announced today the addition of 1989 Oakland A’s-San Francisco Giants World Series games to its “Classic” games schedule.

 

Coverage begins with 1989 World Series Game 1 (from Oct. 14, 1989) – Dave Stewart vs. Scott Garrelts from the Oakland Coliseum – airing Monday, June 22 at 8:00 PM.

1989 World Series, Game 1:  A’s vs. Giants (From Oct. 14, 1989 – 5-0 A’s win; in the first game of the “Bay Bridge Series,” A’s ace Dave Stewart throws a five-hit complete game shutout to notch his first of two wins in the series.)

 

Tuesday, June 23 at 8:00 PM

1989 World Series, Game 2:  A’s vs. Giants (From Oct.15, 1989 – 5-1 A’s win; Rickey Henderson goes three-for-three with one stolen base, Terry Steinbach hits a three-run homer, and Oakland pitching gives up just four hits.)

 

Wednesday, June 24 at 8:00 PM

1989 World Series, Game 3:  A’s at Giants (From Oct. 27, 1989 – 13-7 A’s win; After a 10-day postponement of Game 3 as a result of the Loma Prieta earthquake on October 17th, Dave Henderson drives in four runs on a double and two homers, as Dave Stewart wins his second game of the series.)

 

Thursday, June 25 at 8:00 PM

1989 World Series, Game 4:  A’s at Giants (From Oct. 28, 1989 – 9-6 A’s win; Rickey Henderson connects for a triple and a home run, Dennis Eckersley gets the save and Dave Stewart wins Series MVP honors, as the A’s sweep the series for their first World Series Championship since their 1974 victory over the Dodgers.)
