Brent Musburger welcomes AJ McCarron and ‘beautiful' wife to Raiders

Back in 2013, then-ESPN broadcaster Brent Musburger found himself in hot water for on-air comments he made during the BCS National Championship game between Notre Dame and Alabama.

Crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron's girlfriend (and current wife) Katherine Webb was in the crowd. During the first quarter, the cameras cut to her and that's when things got awkward.

"Now, when you're a quarterback at Alabama, you see that lovely lady there? She does go to Auburn, I want to admit that, but she's also Miss Alabama and that's AJ McCarron's girlfriend, okay? And right there on the right is Dee Dee Bonner, that's AJ's mom. Wow, I tell you, you Alabama quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women. What a beautiful woman. Whoa. So if you're a youngster at Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pops," Musburger said to a national audience.

Five years later, in a strange twist, Musburger and the McCarron's have been reunited in Oakland and the new Raiders radio broadcaster welcomed them with a tweet late Sunday night.

"Welcome A.J. McCarron to the Raider family. Can’t wait for the “beautiful“ Mrs. McCarron to join us in Oakland," Musburger wrote at 9:10pm.

The Raiders acquired McCarron from the Bills for a 2019 fifth-round pick.
