Raiders eliminated from NFL playoff contention after Titans beat Texans

November saw the Raiders soar into NFL playoff contention, winning three in a row to get to 6-4 and in prime position for a wild-card berth and an outside chance at the AFC West title.

Those dreams took a hit during a four-game losing streak that saw them fall to the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars and drop out of playoff contention.

After the loss to the Jags, the Raiders were left to pray for a number of things to go right in order for them to sneak into the playoffs via a tiebreaker. They had all five outcomes fall their way in Week 16, capping it off with a win over the Los Angeles Chargers to stay alive in the playoff hunt.

The Raiders needed a win Sunday over the Denver Broncos and a myriad of other things to go right in order to grab the No. 6 seed via tiebreaker.

But with the Houston Texans electing to rest quarterback Deshaun Watson and other key players, the Titans rolled to victory in Houston, ending the Silver and Black's dreams of postseason football. The Raiders now must shift their focus to 2020 and the first year in Las Vegas.

It wouldn't have mattered anyway, as the Raiders ended up falling 16-15 to the Broncos in Denver to end their season and tenure in Oakland.

The Raiders hit a home run with their latest draft class, but head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock must stack classes with elite talent in order to finally bring the Raiders back to greatness.
