On the ice, Evander Kane has been one of the Sharks' best players this season.
With a goal and an assists in the Sharks' 6-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night, Kane now is tied with captain Logan Couture for the team lead with 22 points.
But off the ice, Kane is dealing with a very serious issue.

The Athletic reported in January that Kane filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in a petition in federal bankruptcy court in San Jose and listed nearly $27 million in debt.
During an interview with NBC Sports California's Brodie Brazil on Friday, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson was asked about how Kane is handling everything going on in his life.
"He's very focused and comes to the rink, that's his sanctuary," Wilson told Brazil. "And everybody has life. Everybody has issues, our players have families, they have friends. This pandemic has taken a toll on so many people, so many issues. We've tried to have our players, to the best of their ability, not worry about what they can't control. And easier said than done. But as far as him playing, coming to the rink, he and Logan [Couture] have this great chemistry. They've both played extremely well and that's certainly a positive.
"But we want all our players to be healthy, to be in a good place, and dealing with some of the things that get magnified when you're going through what everyone in society is going through with the pandemic effect. So we try to get everyone focused on the things they can control and Evander's done a good job of that."

The latest twist in Kane's off-ice dealings came Wednesday when The Athletic reported that the Sharks and Kane told a federal bankruptcy court that the two sides could move to end his seven-year contract this summer.
Kane has four years remaining on his contract at $7 million per season.
Despite all the distractions, Kane is averaging nearly a point per game in 24 contests this season, and could make a run at his career high of 57 points in 2011-12.
