There's a good chance Ryan Donato follows in his father's footsteps now that he has joined the Sharks. Another one of the newest members of the franchise already has.
San Jose selected right winger Tristen Robins with the No. 56 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft on Wednesday. His father, Trevor, was a goaltender in the Sharks organization in the mid-90s.
Consequently, the younger Robins already possessed some sweet Sharks gear, which he wore during a Zoom call with reporters.

"My dad signed a contract with San Jose after his 20-year-old season in Brandon," Robins said. "This is the jacket that he got. ... He played in Saskatoon when he was 17. I played my first year in Saskatoon when I was 17. He started his pro career with San Jose; I get drafted today by San Jose. It’s a crazy aligning of the stars (h/t San Jose Hockey Now)."

Trevor ultimately never appeared in an NHL game for the Sharks. Now that he has followed in his father's footsteps, Tristen surely will be hoping to go a step further.
