Logan Couture could get some good news Tuesday.
The Sharks captain told play-by-play broadcaster Randy Hahn during San Jose's President's Day matinee against the Florida Panthers at SAP Center that he will be tested Tuesday to determine if he can return to practice. Couture has not played since fracturing his ankle on Jan. 7.
"It's going well," Couture told Hahn on Monday. "Obviously, I'd much rather be on the ice than up here talking to you. But I've been skating, I've been working out."

SIGN UP HERE San Jose initially said Couture would miss six weeks, and Tuesday will mark the six-week mark from when he sustained the injury.
Couture's ankle injury forced him to miss out on his second career NHL All-Star Game. The Sharks were a playoff longshot before he went down, and they entered Monday 10 points back of the Western Conference's second wild-card spot.
That hasn't diminished Couture's desire to return to the lineup, and he said he hasn't entertained the idea of shutting it down for the season.
"No, I'm a hockey player," Couture told Hahn. "It's my job and I love it, and I miss it. When I'm healthy and the doctors give me the OK, I'll be back."

Couture led the Sharks with 36 (14 goals, 22 assists) at the time of his injury, but San Jose entered Monday with a 7-6-0 record in 13 games without him. The Sharks undoubtedly miss their captain -- as well as Tomas Hertl and and Erik Karlsson, who have since sustained season-ending injuries -- but he admires how they've played in his absence.
"It's been nice to see us play hard, play the right way," Couture said. "I'm definitely proud of the way that they've battled. ... We've lost some players, but everyone's played very, very hard."
