Sheffield United-Manchester United ends in draw, incredible finish

Sheffield United and Manchester United played to a 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane on Sunday, but the final score didn't do the finish justice.

Man United erased a two-goal deficit in fewer than 10 minutes late in the second half, appearing destined for a 3-2 win. But the Blades clawed back, with second-half substitute Oli McBurnie equalizing in the 90th minute.

The goal was upheld by VAR, capping off an absurd final 20 minutes. A pair of Man United academy products led the Red Devils back into the match, as 19-year-old Brandon Williams and 18-year-old Mason Greenwood scored their first English Premier League goals to level the score at 2-2.

Marcus Rashford, not that much older at 22, gave United a 3-2 lead with his left-footed finish in the 79th minute.

Man United's lead, as briefly as it lasted, really flattered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side. Before Williams' goal, the Red Devils had only managed a single shot on target all match.

"Manchester United had a good spell in the game when they got desperate," NBC Sports analyst Robbie Earle said after the match. "When they needed something, when Ole had to gamble and chuck players on and say, 'Well, have a go at it.' That shouldn't be what Manchester United want. There should be a bigger plan, a better plan, an understanding of strategy.

"There's quality players in there."

Sheffield United, newly promoted from the Championship this season, could've cut the gap behind fourth place -- and a spot in the UEFA Champions League -- to six points with a win. Instead, the Blades now sit sixth and Manchester United is ninth.

That a promoted side, after that kind of finish against a club of Man United's historic stature, has cause for disappointment just about sums up both teams' respective realities in this strange season.
