Eric Paschall learned about NBA shutdown from Donovan Mitchell on FaceTime

Warriors forward Eric Paschall and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell have been very close friends since childhood.

So when Golden State's rookie saw that the game exactly two weeks ago between the Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder got postponed, he reached out to Mitchell.

"The way I found out (that the NBA season was shut down) was actually through Donovan Mitchell," Paschall explained to ABC's Larry Beil and Casey Pratt. "I Facetime'd him. I asked him, 'Are you good?' This is right after the Rudy Gobert thing.

"He's like, 'Yeah, I'm fine. Nothing's wrong. But the league is suspended.' And I'm like, 'What? Hold on, I'm gonna call you back.' I check Twitter, it says two minutes ago -- NBA season suspended."

As you're probably well aware -- Mitchell tested positve for the coronavirus the following day and is in self-quarantine.

"We've called each other multiple times just to see how we're doing," Paschall said. "We have all the time in the world now (laughing). Nothing else to do.

"Me and him played "NBA2K" together. Having fun and playing Call of Duty."
