Kuminga a ‘no-ceiling type of player' to Dubs coach Fraser

Jonathan Kuminga has opened the eyes of practically anyone who has tuned in to watch him play. Whether it is highlight dunks or impressive footwork for his age, Kuminga has been a surprise sensation so early on in his career.

It is not just the fans and media, however, that are blown away by his growth and potential, it is the Warriors coaching staff as well.

"He pops off the page, as you'd say, the minute you see him play," Warriors assistant coach Bruce Fraser said on the latest episode of the Dubs Talk podcast. "He's so athletic, we saw that right away."

"But his ability to playmake, and score, and pass, he's a very, very exciting almost-no-ceiling type player," Fraser continued.

"Some players you are excited about with their ceilings, with him there is no ceiling. It is a matter of how good can he get and how quick."

Over the month of February, Kuminga has taken a leap in his production as his playing time has increased. The 19-year-old averaged nearly 15 points per game and was a key piece in driving the offense at times. Fraser recognizes that Draymond Green's injury has allowed Kuminga to really blossom as of late.

"With some of the unfortunate injuries, it has given him an avenue to grow, and he has taken advantage of it, and it has given us space in our rotations to play him more," Fraser said. "And he's proven himself, he's been very, very good the last month or so. Lately, even more impressive."

With the playoffs about six weeks away, the Warriors will begin to fine-tune and strategize their playoff rotation. At this point, it seems like a given that Kuminga will be given time on the court, despite his high level of inexperience.

"The rise of Jonathan Kuminga puts him in the [playoff rotation] mix," Fraser said. "If you were to ask me two weeks or a month ago, I might not have [said that]."

"He's an exciting piece that can really help us in the playoffs if he continues to grow."
