Hart advised Steph to utter hilarious ‘daddy' of Celtics line

Steph Curry is a father of three, but comedian Kevin Hart hilariously wanted the Warriors superstar to add another child to his family tree during his monologue to begin the ESPYs on Wednesday night.

"[Hart] wanted me to open with this: 'I'm your host Stephen Curry, proud husband of Ayesha Curry, proud son of Dell Curry, proud daddy of ... the Boston Celtics.' "

In a two-minute bit that aired during the award show, Curry received advice from Hart, who hosted the event in 2014, and 2017 master of ceremonies Peyton Manning.

"Set the tone early," Hart urged Curry. "Come in hot off the bat."

That "daddy" joke certainly would have started the event with a bang, putting Boston in its place after the Warriors defeated the Celtics in six games to win the 2022 NBA Finals.

Curry did get in a couple of great jabs during the event, and one aimed at Celtics forward Grant Williams. The Finals MVP taunted Williams by acknowledging him in the crowd and saying, "I might even let you wear a ring."

Curry also was advised by Manning to take a dig at the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers.

"I know you must be feeling a lot of pressure because it has been a long time since an NBA player performed well in Los Angeles," Manning joked during the bit.

No one was safe in the ESPYs audience from the wit of the "Petty King" Curry.
