Klay roasts Kings over 2011 draft snub after Warriors' win

Klay Thompson perks up whenever the Warriors face the Kings, and now we know why.

After scoring a team-high 23 points in the Warriors' 126-114 win over the Kings at Chase Center on Thursday night, Thompson was asked what it was about Sacramento that brings out the best in him.

Klay gave the most Klay answer ever.

"Hey man, 2011 NBA Draft, with the 10th pick, the Sacramento Kings don't select me," Thompson told Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin and Dorell Wright on Warriors Postgame Live. "People don't forget. That's all I got to say."

Thompson scored 20 of his 23 points Thursday in the first half, including six 3-pointers. He finished the game 8-of-11 from the field and 7-of-9 from 3-point range.

The Warriors took Thompson with the No. 11 overall pick in 2011. The Kings actually took Bismack Biyombo with the No. 7 overall pick, but traded him as part of a three-team deal with the Milwaukee Bucks and then-Charlotte Bobcats. Sacramento ended up with No. 10 overall pick Jimmer Fredette.

Fredette played two and a half seasons with the Kings before being waived in February 2014.

Klay, of course, has become one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, been named to five NBA All-Star Games and helped the Warriors win three NBA championships during a five-year Finals run. On Jan. 23, 2015, he lit up the Kings for an NBA-record 37 points in the third quarter of the Warriors' win.

The Kings have made several questionable draft picks over the last two decades, but ending up with Fredette instead of Thompson is up there with the worst of them.
