NBA mock draft 2020: Warriors expected to take Anthony Edwards No. 1

The 2019-20 NBA season still is on hold during the coronavirus pandemic, and its continuation remains in question. For now, though, the draft still is slated for June 25.

For the first time in years, the draft will be appointment viewing for Warriors fans. Golden State last owned a top-10 pick in 2012 when they took Harrison Barnes No. 7 overall out of North Carolina.

But prior to the NBA's hiatus, the Warriors had the worst record in the league at 15-50. They were guaranteed a top pick in the draft and possibly could be on the clock at No. 1 overall.

Many expect the Warriors to be championship contenders next season with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson making healthy returns. Will they add a big man like James Wiseman in the draft? What about a guard like LaMelo Ball or Anthony Edwards? They could even go international and take point-forward Deni Avdija.

Here are who a handful of mock drafts see the Warriors taking with their top pick.

James Ham, NBC Sports California: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: "He has an incredible amount of potential and they can groom him for the post Steph and Klay era."

Mike Schmitz, ESPN: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: "Edwards would add instant offense to an already high-powered nucleus with his ability to get downhill and rise up from anywhere on the floor."

Gary Parrish, CBS Sports: PG LaMelo Ball
Ball: "When you focus on what he can do, and how rare it is for somebody his age to do the things he can do, Ball becomes a legitimate option to be the first player picked in this draft."

Jeff Zillgitt, Scott Gleeson and Mark Medina, USA Today Sports: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: "Edwards is an explosive scorer with immediate All-Star ability and two-way upside, making him the front-runner to hear his name called first."

Ryan Jones, SLAM: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: "With Steph and Klay both in their 30s and coming off major injuries, the Dubs need to be thinking about the backcourt of the future. Edwards could be their next All-Star SG."
