Jefferson, Barnes react to Steph's ‘beat us bad' comments

The Warriors trailed the Los Angeles Lakers by 20 points at the end of the first quarter Sunday night, and ended up losing by 26.

It arguably was their most disappointing performance of the season.

"We have to remember -- even when we're playing well, teams still want to beat us and beat us bad," Steph Curry told the media after the defeat. "They still have a lot of memories from the last five-six years.

"Against the really good teams, those disciplines that separate a good team from a great team have to show up."

On Monday's episode of ESPN's "The Jump," Rachel Nichols asked Matt Barnes and Richard Jefferson if Curry's comments are "BS" or "Real Talk."

Barnes: "This is the realest talk I've heard in a long time. People took that dynasty run personally. They were stomping on people and taking names. Dancing and celebrating and winning championships -- people don't forget that.

"So until they right this ship, people are gonna take pride in trying to beat the Warriors down every single night."

Jefferson: "They were doing some quote-unquote 'historically disrespectful stuff' on the court. And whooping you, and there was nothing you could do about it.

"So now that you're down -- oh no no no no no no, we're gonna keep that gas pedal [on]."

Barnes: "As long as Steph has a Warriors jersey on ... they're gonna be a target."

The Warriors reached the NBA Finals five straight years from 2015 to 2019, and won three NBA titles in the process.

Plain and simple -- Steph and his teammates hurt a lot of feelings along the way.

And if all goes according to plan, they will make several more deep playoff runs and again bring out emotions in people all across the basketball world.
