The Warriors last Saturday night let one slip away against the Boston Celtics, who were playing without Jaylen Brown. Golden State led by 16 points with a little over one minute remaining in the first half, and held a six-point lead with less than four minutes left in the game.
The Warriors on Wednesday were up 104-93 with less than six minutes to go, but failed to close out the Wizards.
So instead of being one game ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies for the No. 8 seed in the West and just one game behind the No. 7 seed Dallas Mavericks, the Dubs trail the Grizzlies and Mavs by one and three games respectively.

"We're getting better," Draymond Green told reporters. "But a part of getting better and being a good team is you have to win the games you're supposed to win. And we still are not doing that at times."

Despite the frustrating losses, the Warriors still are in an OK spot as they have a favorable schedule down the stretch. Nine of their final 13 games are at home, and they have matchups against the Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder (twice) and New Orleans Pelicans (three times).
"Trying to keep a big-picture perspective on how we're playing," Curry added. "You gotta stay positive about where we are overall.
