Steve Kerr is sticking with what his gut is saying, even if his boss is saying something different.
Two weeks after saying he's operating as if the Warriors' 2019-20 season is over, Kerr reiterated that he doesn't see his team playing any of the 17 remaining games on the schedule.
During an interview with Damon Bruce, Ray Ratto and Matt Kolsky on 95.7 The Game on Tuesday, the Warriors coach was asked if he's paying attention to all the rumors about the possible resumption of the NBA season, and he offered this answer:

"I am just basically in the background," Kerr said. "Because of our team's circumstances, because of the fact that we are not in the mix at all, I'm really staying out of all of this. And as [Warriors general manager] Bob [Myers] said, we'll be good soldiers if the league asks us to play more games. We'll play. I don't anticipate that happening. But we'll be ready if it does."
Kerr's comments come four days after Myers said the Warriors would be "good partners" if the NBA asked them to finish out the regular season.

The Warriors currently have a 15-50 record, and are the only team that was officially eliminated from playoff contention before the coronavirus shut the league down in March.

If the NBA wants to allow the playoff races to play out, it will ask all teams to return to action. If the league wants to skip ahead to the postseason, the 14 non-playoff teams won't have to play.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday night, citing sources, that the NBA has informed owners that it intends to make a decision on resumption of the season in the next two-to-four weeks.

During that timeframe, we should find out if Kerr and the Warriors will be asked to continue the current season or start preparing for the NBA draft and the 2020-21 season.
