Warriors' margin for error slimmer after injuries ‘hit at once'

It hasn't been fun for the Warriors as of late.

Having lost back-to-back games and six of their previous eight contests, Golden State is struggling on both ends of the floor.

Without Draymond Green, who is nursing a back/disc injury, the Warriors have been without arguably one of the most important players in the league on offense and defense.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr joined 95.7 The Game's Damon & Ratto on Wednesday night, where he was asked which area other teams have attacked Golden State the most in Green's absence.

"I think there's a lot more room to attack the rim without Draymond," Kerr said. "He's one of the best rim protectors in the league. Yeah, I think teams have tried to attack us off the dribble, knowing he's not back there and that's been an issue for us for sure."

In addition to Green, the Warriors have been without Andre Iguodala, their leader off the bench, for almost a month now as he continues to recover from a back injury. Superstar Klay Thompson has also missed Golden State's previous two games due to an illness but is expected to return Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

All three of Green, Iguodala and Thompson's injuries hit the Warriors all at once, making their margin for error the thinnest it's been all season.

"Klay is one of the best two-way players in the league, so important for us," Kerr added. "So we've missed him the last couple of nights. We've missed Andre [Iguodala] the last month or so. I think the fact that it's all kind of hit at once with Draymond, Andre and now Klay. It just makes us more vulnerable, so we have to put together a full 48-minute game. Our margin for error is much slimmer.

"Even though we played a great 40 minutes against Dallas and controlled the whole game, that eight-minute stretch in the fourth just killed us. Same thing against Denver, we played a pretty good game and then the final few minutes just killed us. So our margin for error is slimmer, but that's exactly how it's supposed to be if you're missing some of your best guys. You just have to find a way to win."

With Klay returning to the floor Thursday night and Draymond making strides in his rehab, the Warriors are hoping that they will be close to whole again before the end of the season as they prepare for another deep playoff run.
