Thompson sees Woods-Warriors comparison, shows off golf stroke

Even President Obama knows how sweet Klay Thompson's stroke is on the basketball court, but the All-Star guard's golf swing isn't bad either.

Thompson visited the Golf Channel's studios in Orlando, Florida, while the Warriors were in town to face the Magic, and he was asked if Golden State's recent NBA dominance is comparable to Tiger Woods' dominance in golf from the late '90s to the late 2000s.

"I think so," he said.

"Our coverage from the media ... it's crazy," he added. "I can't believe it because my rookie year we won 23 games. And just to see where were at now -- all the fans in Orlando last night, all the Warriors fans, it's unbelievable. It's something that we really embrace and enjoy playing in front of."

Thompson revealed that his favorite course is Pebble Beach, which he's played twice -- a fact that didn't sit well with his father, former NBA player Mychal Thompson.

Klay recalled his father's reaction: "What? You played Pebble? I haven't played a course that nice and I'm 58 years old!"

"The winds will get you," Thompson said of Pebble Beach before the 14/15 handicap hit the simulator.

Thompson acknowledged that his major concerns with his golf game are his driver, which he slices, and overall consistency. He also admitted he was more nervous swinging on the simulator than he was playing basketball in front of 20,000 fans at Amway Center the night before.

"I wish (my golf swing) was as consistent as my jumper," Thompson said. "I would have a lot more fun."
