The Warriors couldn't have played their worst half of the season at a worse time.
Golden State struggled mightily in the first half of Tuesday's tilt with the Dallas Mavericks at Chase Center, falling behind by 24 points at the end of the first quarter and taking a 62-29 deficit into halftime.
The Warriors, ever so briefly, led 12-11 with 8:40 remaining in the first quarter.

Golden State then wouldn't score for the remainder of the quarter, nor until a minute into the second.

Things didn't get much better over the remainder of the second quarter. With just under six minutes remaining in the frame, both Steph Curry and Kelly Oubre Jr. missed shots they've routinely made during the Warriors' recent hot streak.
In all, Curry finished the first half a minus-26, but he didn't finish the half with the Warriors' worst plus-minus. Oubre and Andrew Wiggins shared that dubious distinction, as both players were minus-29. Center Kevon Looney, somehow, was only minus-8, while every other Warrior was outscored by at least 11 points in their minutes.
A loss Tuesday to the Mavericks would be the penultimate -- if not the final -- nail in the Warriors' coffin as they aim to grab the Western Conference's sixth and final automatic playoff spot. Dallas' advantage over Golden State would increase to 3.5 games, and the Mavericks would hold the tiebreaker over the Warriors.
