Warriors' disabled player exception for Klay set to expire

The Warriors in late November were granted a disabled player exception for the season-ending Achilles injury to Klay Thompson.

That $9.3 million DPE is set to expire Monday night at 9:00 p.m. PT, and the expectation is that it will go unused.

"Because the rules related to disable player exceptions are somewhat restrictive and the exceptions themselves often aren’t worth a lot, they often simply expire without being used," Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors wrote.

The Warriors will make a transaction Monday, however, as Gary Payton II reportedly will be signing a second 10-day contract.

Golden State enters Monday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers tied for ninth place in the Western Conference.
