Draymond claims Dubs' struggles not due to lack of motivation

While the Warriors try to figure out what the root cause of their 3-6 start to the 2022-23 NBA season is, Draymond Green told reporters what it isn't.

Speaking with reporters following Golden State's 130-129 loss to the Orlando Magic at Amway Center on Thursday, Green said -- in no uncertain terms -- that the Warriors' struggles don't stem from a lack of inspiration.

"I'll be totally honest with you if I thought it was, I don't think motivation is the problem at all," the 32-year-old said.

Green added that four players on the roster -- Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, and himself -- have won four championships while another, Kevon Looney, has won three.

Winning championships gives the Warriors' core all the motivation they need to keep pursuing greatness, hence why Green believes the team is not struggling with motivation.

"That's where you'll see a motivational thing at in guys that's just done it over and over and over again and quite frankly, I don't think it's that," the veteran forward continued.

Golden State's defensive anchor said that if there is anything the Warriors might be lacking, it is the competitive spirit, and so that is where the team will need to focus in order to get back to its winning ways.

"To get back, we have to get our defensive intensity back, our will to defend back but I don't think that's due to motivation," Green concluded.

While the Warriors continue to figure out how to fix the defense, Green has pointed out that they have been allowing opponents to get too comfortable, hence the higher-than-usual scores.

Regardless of whether it's a "championship hangover" or not, the Warriors have no shortage of motivation to turn things around sooner rather than later.
