Dubs thought Dame moved feet on controversial Draymond charge

Damian Lillard drew a charge on Draymond Green with 4.1 seconds remaining Wednesday, effectively putting the game out of reach in the Warriors' 108-106 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Green made the basket, and he would've had a chance to put the Warriors up 109-108 if Lillard were called for a blocking foul. Golden State coach Steve Kerr unsuccessfully challenged the call, leaving the Warriors without a timeout when Robert Covington missed back-to-back free throws on the ensuing offensive possession.

The Warriors were able to get a last-second heave attempt by Damion Lee, but the effort fell well short of the hoop.

"It looked like a block to me," Kerr told reporters in a postgame video conference. "I thought he was sliding underneath, but the referees got a look at it and they made the call."

Lillard was outside of the restricted circle, but Kerr and point guard Steph Curry argued that the six-time NBA All-Star's feet weren't set when Green rose for the attempted layup. The NBA's rulebook doesn't permit a player "to move into the path of an offensive player once he has started his upward motion to attempt a field goal or pass."

"It was close, but we felt like there was some movement after Draymond took off," Curry said. "And we were pretty confident going into the review that we were going to get it overturned. ... It doesn't go our way, obviously, and that's a tough way to end the game for sure.

"I don't even know what to say about it, really."

Lillard gave the Blazers the lead for good on the possession before drawing a charge on green. With 14.0 seconds remaining, the Oakland native drained a 29-foot 3-pointer to put Portland up by two.

The 30-year-old continues to average more points per game (28.9) against the Warriors than any other team. On Wednesday, he added a clutch defensive play -- a controversial one, if you ask Golden State -- to his highlight reel against his hometown team.
