Why Draymond isn't ‘losing sleep' over Dubs' early struggles

Draymond Green has been through this before. The challenges might change from season to season, but the fact that consistently winning is difficult in the NBA never wavers.

The Warriors (6-8) still are recovering from a winless five-game road trip earlier this month, one that exposed the team's shortcomings on its second unit and, frankly, when Steph Curry isn't on the floor.

Green has been through it all over his decade in the NBA. He's not stressing.

"I’m not losing sleep right now," Green told The Athletic's Sam Amick on Sunday night. "I think there are a couple of things that we need to correct that, honestly, over the course of the last few games, we are correcting. And these losses will turn into wins. I think there are a lot of games down the stretch that we’ve been losing, and we know how to win games down the stretch. But games are won in the margins. They’re not necessarily won at the end of the game. You may lose the game in the last six minutes of the game, but games are won within the margins, and we have to be better within the margins."

The Warriors rank 25th in the NBA with a 113.6 defensive rating. They score 18 fewer points per 100 possessions when Curry is resting on the bench. James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Jordan Poole -- billed as the future of the franchise -- all own a negative plus/minus rating on the season.

"I think the struggles are real," Green told Amick. "Like, I don’t think our struggles are just like something we can ignore. They’re real struggles. They’re very fixable struggles. I don’t want to say they can be easily fixed, because to say something is easy in this profession is a lie in itself. But they are very fixable."

Green and the Warriors, winners of three of their last four tilts since the winless trip, get another chance Wednesday night when they battle the Phoenix Suns at Footprint Center. Tune in to NBC Sports Bay Area at 6 p.m. for "Warriors Pregame Live."
