Why Steph loves, appreciates Ja's expressive mannerisms

Steph Curry has been one of the NBA's biggest showmen for more than a decade, shimmying, smirking and dancing at the expense of Warriors' opponents with little regard for their feelings.

Rising Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant might be coming for that title, and Curry likes what he's seeing from the 22-year-old.

"We all express it differently," Curry told reporters after practice on Friday. "There's definitely an excitement factor just watching him play, things he can do on the floor. The mannerisms he expresses on the court, I love it all because it shows just how much the game means to you, how competitive you are and the appreciation for those moments out there on the floor because you know all the work that goes into it."

Curry and Morant have traded friendly trash talk after each of the first two games of the Western Conference semifinals in Memphis earlier this week.

After the Grizzlies' Game 2 win on Tuesday, Morant walked by Curry and told him they were going to have fun the rest of the series, a response to a similar message from Curry following the Warriors' Game 1 win last Sunday.

Before Curry spoke to the media Friday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr sat at the podium and compared the playing styles of the two NBA All-Stars.

"I love watching Ja play, more than I love coaching against him," Kerr told reporters. "He's a brilliant player but he plays with freedom and joy and you can see how much he loves the game. He's fantastic. I think it's infectious with his teammates, with the crowd. Very similar dynamic to Steph. They're obviously very different players but that joy and freedom you see with Steph is there with Ja as well."

Curry has put his stamp on the NBA since he arrived with the Warriors in 2009 and Morant is quickly making his mark on the league, poised to become the next great superstar for the rest of the decade.

The NBA certainly is in good hands.
