Cehlarik out, Hayes back in for Bruins tonight vs. Red Wings

BRIGHTON, Mass. - As expected, the Bruins will plug Austin Czarnik into the lineup as the third-line center in place of injured Ryan Spooner tonight as they host the Detroit Red Wings. Jimmy Hayes will draw back into the lineup as the B’s will scratch rookie Peter Cehlarik, who's without a goal ten games into his NHL career.

Drew Stafford will push up to Cehlarik's spot at left wing, alongside David Krejci, with Hayes joining Czarnik and Frank Vatrano on another kiddie third line looking for some offensive burst.

Hayes, scratched the past two games against New Jersey and Ottawa after the arrival of the newly acquired Drew Stafford, had just a couple of assists in his previous nine games on the third line under Bruce Cassidy. The message to him when he was kicked up to the ninth floor was that the coaching staff liked his game, but it’s all about increased production whether it’s Hayes or a first-line stud.

“You don’t ever want to be scratched, but sometimes things happen and you need to continue to stay positive and work your way back in,” said Hayes, who has two goals and five points in 49 games this season. “You need to find ways to produce because if you don’t produce you get taken out of the lineup. You need to find ways to help the team win. They haven’t been falling the way I want them to this year, so hopefully I get one off the foot or off the shin-pad.”
