Fan who caught A-Rod's 660th HR wants to cash in

Maybe Mike Shuster figures, like Alex Rodriguez, home run No. 660 is worth $6 million.

Shuster, 25, a financial adviser (no kidding!), from Warwick, R.I., caught A-Rod's laser that he sent into the Monster seats for his 660th career home run, tying Willie Mays for fourth place on the all-time list, at Fenway Park on Friday night. It gave the Yankees a 3-2 victory amid a chorus of boos from the Boston crowd. Shuster immediately signaled thumbs down after snagging the shot.

The Red Sox fan is not about to return it to the disgraced Yankees star, unless he gets paid.

The Yankees and A-Rod are in a dispute over a $6 million bonus the team originally promised for the milestone home run - a deal made before Rodriguez's suspension for performance-enhancing drug use.

Shuster appears to be well aware of that.

“I know he got paid $6 million just to hit the home run … maybe,’’ Shuster told the New York Post. “If he wanted to take a picture with the ball, he’d be more than welcome, but I’m not giving it to him.”

More from the Post story:

“I wasn’t going to give it away,” said Shuster, who was sitting in Monster Section 2, Row 3, Seat 4. “I think I can hold my own. I’m in sales. I’m gonna go home and sleep on it and see what I can come up with.”
He said he wasn’t interested in trading the ball for any Yankees memorabilia or the David Ortiz-signed bats the Red Sox offered.

A source said the Red Sox “offered him the world.”

Shuster got to Fenway Park late and bought the last single-seat Monster seat ticket.

He was in the bathroom when he heard Rodriguez’s name called as a pinch-hitter in the top of the eighth.

“I ran back here and right as I got back to my seat, the home run was coming right at me,” Shuster said.
