PODCAST: The man they call Yaz

Share

You don't see much of Yaz these days. Since his retirement in 1983, Carl Yastrzemski has pretty much made himself scarce and is rarely seen around Fenway Park.

Which is too bad, because a generation of Red Sox fans has never really gotten to know the Hall of Fame left fielder, who was the cornerstone of the franchise from his debut in 1961 to his departure 23 seasons later . . . a time that included two World Series appearances, three batting championships, a Triple Crown season and a larger-than-life performance -- in 1967 -- that did nothing less than turn around the direction of the franchise and reignite New England's dormant passion for baseball.

He does, however, show up each year at spring training to work with the minor-leaguers. And this year, he sat down with Sean McAdam for an in-depth interview on The Baseball Show Podcast, talking about the current Sox, the importance of the farm system, where David Ortiz ranks among the all-time Sox players, and much more.
