Boston Bruins forward A.J. Greer was suspended one game by the NHL on Friday for cross-checking Montreal Canadiens forward Mike Hoffman in the face during Thursday night's 4-2 win at TD Garden.
The 26-year-old forward will miss Saturday afternoon's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Boston.
The incident happened before a faceoff late in the first period against the Canadiens. Greer's actions resulted in a five-minute major penalty for cross-checking and an ejection.

It was a foolish move by Greer, and the league correctly handed out further discipline.
Greer could find it difficult to earn ice time in the playoffs. The trade deadline acquisitions of Tyler Bertuzzi and Garnet Hathaway, plus the potential returns of injured forwards Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno, will make for some tough lineup decisions for head coach Jim Montgomery.
