NHL team values are on the rise, which is a trend we've seen across many sports over the last decade.

Forbes released Wednesday its annual list of team valuations, and the New York Rangers lead the pack at $2 billion. They are the first NHL team to reach the $2 billion milestone.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are not far behind, ranking No. 2 on the list at $1.8 billion. Another Canadian team, the Montreal Canadiens, are third at $1.6 billion.ย

The Boston Bruins are the fifth-most valuable team at $1.3 billion, which is a 30 percent increase over the last year, per Forbes.

All of the Original Six franchises -- Rangers, Bruins, Blackhawks, Leafs, Canadiens and Red Wings -- are ranked inside the top 10. The Red Wings ($990 million) are the only one of the six worth less than $1 billion in Forbes' valuations.

The league has eight teams worth $1 billion or more on Forbes' ranking. The lowest-valued franchise is the Arizona Coyotes at $400 million.
