If you think Tom Brady was holding out until Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final to be the Boston Bruins' banner captain ... think again.
The New England Patriots quarterback won't be waving the Bruins' flag Wednesday night at TD Garden before puck drop, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Marc Bertrand reports.
Several of Brady's teammates, including wide receiver Julian Edelman and center David Andrews, have supported the B's at TD Garden during their Stanley Cup run, and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick served as the Bruins' banner captain in Game 2 of the Cup Final.
So, if Brady won't do the banner captain honors in Game 7, who will?
We laid out a few options (anyone want to track down Tim Thomas?) prior to Game 5, which saw B's legends Bobby Orr and Derek Sanderson wave the flag. There's been a groundswell of support for David Ortiz to be somehow involved in the pregame festivities after he was shot in the Dominican Republic on Sunday, but the Boston Red Sox icon still is in intensive care at Massachusetts General Hospital and obviously has his health as a top priority.
