If it wasn't clear already, the Boston Bruins are undeniably all-in to win the Stanley Cup in 2023.
After trading away multiple draft picks as part of a deal to acquire defenseman Dmitry Orlov and forward Garnet Hathaway from the Washington Capitals last week, the Bruins made another move Thursday with the Detroit Red Wings.
The B's acquired left wing Tyler Bertuzzi and sent the Red Wings a 2024 first-round pick (top-10 protected) and a 2024 fifth-round pick. Detroit also retained half of Bertuzzi's salary.

Between these two trades, the Bruins have dealt away a 2023 first-round pick, a top-10 protected 2024 first-round pick, a 2025 second-round pick, a 2024 third-round pick and a 2023 fifth-round pick over the last two weeks.
The Bruins don't have a first-rounder until 2025. They won't pick in the second round until 2026. The B's haven't picked in each of the first two rounds of the same draft since 2017, and that trend will continue through 2025 unless other trades are made.
It's a bold strategy for the Bruins to trade so many high draft picks, especially when their prospect pool already ranks among the weakest in the league. But they have a veteran roster with a real chance to win a championship this season. This kind of opportunity doesn't come around often, and the B's have to take advantage of it.
