Bucks do what no team has before against the Celtics in Game 4

BOSTON -- It was a historic night for the Boston Celtics … for all the wrong reasons.

In Boston’s 113-101 Game 4 loss to Milwaukee, the Celtics allowed 66 points in the paint.

According to NBA stats czar Dick Lipe, in the 23 years the NBA has been keeping tabs on points scored in the paint, Boston had never given up as many in a playoff game.

And leading the way for Milwaukee in Game 4 was league MVP front-runner Giannis Antetokounmpo who had 39 points and 16 rebounds on 15-for-22 shooting from the field, or 68.1 percent.

Antetokounmpo became the first player in a playoff game against Boston to score at least 39 points, grab at least 16 rebounds and do so while shooting at least 65 percent from the field.

The only other player to score 39+ points and 16+ rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field was Bob Pettit who had 40 points and 18 rebounds while connecting on 60.9 percent of his shots from the field on April 9, 1961.

As far as how Antetokounmpo’s game stacks up to prior Bucks players, the last Milwaukee player to score 35+ points, 15+ rebounds and 4+ assists in a playoff game was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who had 36 points, 15 rebounds and six assists on April 30, 1974 against - who else? - the Boston Celtics.
