Aaron Gordon highlights ‘frustration' that led to trade request

We don't know where Aaron Gordon will end up, but we do know he doesn't plan on staying with the Orlando Magic past Thursday.

The Magic forward confirmed Tuesday night he has requested a trade before Thursday's NBA trade deadline based on his displeasure with the current situation in Orlando.

"There's been times where I just expressed my frustration to management," Gordon told reporters Tuesday, via ESPN. "Frustration with the losses, the injuries, the way we've been playing and how many losses have accumulated over the years.

"So, it's just my frustration kind of boiling over I would say. ... I think a lot of people share that sentiment with me, of frustration."

Gordon is in his seventh season with the Magic, who have had a winning record just once and haven't won a playoff series in two tries since the team drafted him fourth overall in 2014.

The 25-year-old has been a productive player when healthy -- he's averaging 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while shooting a career-best 39.3% from 3-point range -- but has been hampered by injuries. He missed 15 games due to an ankle injury earlier this season and missed 11 games last season as well.

Gordon has plenty of upside as an athletic playmaker and strong defender that could be unleashed elsewhere. The Boston Celtics apparently share that belief, as they're believed to be the "frontrunners" to trade for the 25-year-old forward.

Recent reports suggested the Celtics had offered two first-round picks and possibly a player to Orlando in return for Gordon and teammate Evan Fournier, who's averaging 19.6 points per game. The Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers are rumored to be in the mix for Gordon, as well.

The Magic have until 3 p.m. ET on Thursday to complete a trade for Gordon, and his comments suggest he's ready to move on.
