Here are the craziest stats from Celtics' historic beatdown of Bulls

Share

Want to hear a massive understatement? The Boston Celtics beat the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.

This is factually true, but it doesn't capture the absolute disaster that unfolded at United Center.

So, here are three stats that more accurately sum up the Celtics' 133-77 demolition of the Bulls:

1. Boston's 56-point win was its largest margin of victory in team history. The previous record was 51.

2. The win also tied an NBA record for the biggest road victory in NBA history.

3. The loss was the worst in Bulls franchise history.

Basically, Saturday night was one of the most lopsided NBA games ever. (Seriously: C's big man Daniel Theis was a plus-50.)

But the Celtics also reached two other notable milestones in the rout.

First up: Boston made 22 3-pointers Saturday, marking the fifth straight game the team has 13 or more deep balls.

Not coincidentally, the C's have scored at least 115 points in all five of those contests (all wins), tying a streak they set over 20 years ago in the Larry Bird era.

Those impressive marks haven't exactly come against elite competition -- Boston's last five opponents all have had losing records -- but facts are facts, and these numbers should be enough to silence the Celtics' haters for a bit.
