Jayson Tatum has sound reasoning for skipping 3-point contest

For a third consecutive season, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum is headed to the All-Star Game.

Don't expect him to be partaking in the 3-point shootout for a second year in a row, however.

Tatum, who is shooting a career-worst 32.7 percent from 3, seems to realize it's not in the cards.

To Tatum's credit, he's been much better from beyond the arc since his historic slump, connecting on 41.3 percent of his shots from 3 over his last six games. 

For his career, Tatum is a 38.1 percent shooter from deep.

Though he wasn't an All-Star in the 2018-19 season, Tatum still participated in and won the skills competition.

The 23-year-old Tatum is averaging 25.9 points per game, 8.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists in his fifth season with the Celtics.
