Watch Jayson Tatum get a hot start against Denver and hit the 3pt bucket to surpass Ray Allen’s 3pt record with the Celtics.

Ray Allen may be back in the good graces of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, but his place on the Boston Celtics' all-time list for 3-pointers made is falling fast.

In the same season in which Allen's NBA record for 3-pointers made was broken by Steph Curry, Allen has been surpassed by Jayson Tatum for third place in Celtics history for makes from beyond the arc.

After connecting on 6 of 10 shots from 3-point range in Boston's game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, Tatum now has 801 makes from 3-point range, behind only Pierce and Antoine Walker in team history. It's going to take some time to track down The Truth, who connected from 3-point land some 1,823 times in green, but Tatum should be able to pass 'Toine (937) at some point next season.

Forsberg: This Tatum-led lineup is Celtics' new secret weapon

Tatum, nearing the end of his fifth NBA season, has surpassed Allen in a nearly identical number of games that he played in a Celtics uniform from 2007-12. Sunday vs. Denver is Tatum's 357th game for Boston, while Allen appeared in 358 games for the Green.

Tatum is shooting a career-worst 34.4 percent from 3-point range this season, but is up over 40 percent through eight games in March.

Four reasons to embrace the Celtics' upcoming season of uncertainty

Was Derrick White snubbed from NBA's All-Defense teams?

Within the next season or so, Allen could very well fall into sixth place -- one spot ahead of Larry Bird -- on the 3-point list for Boston. Marcus Smart (773) has an outside chance of catching him this season, while Jaylen Brown (689) isn't all that far off the pace either.

Tatum has already moved past Allen for most 3-point attempts in franchise history but still trails Pierce, Walker and Smart.
