Kevin Garnett was an intense man on the court for the Boston Celtics. And apparently, that attitude carried over off the court into a specific area, the team's buffet.
On an episode of The Woj Pod with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, former Celtics center Kendrick Perkins opened up about how picky Garnett was about the rules of the team buffet. There was one rule that KG would go after people for not following. Players eat first. And a couple of times, that rule was forgotten, and the results were comical.
Take this one, for example, when a team doctor went ahead of the players to get food.
"Everybody knew this rule, right? Don't touch the food. Players eat first," said Perkins to Wojnarowski. "This was established from day one. Dr. McKeon obviously didn't get the message."
Apparently, McKeon went and got food from the buffet. That's when Kevin Garnett walked out of the shower, according to Perkins, wearing a towel and covered in oil. Garnett made his way over to the doctor, determined to make an example of him.
“Players eat first. Matter of fact, give me this (expletive),” Garnett said, per Perkins, before dumping the food in the trash.

That wasn't the only time that Garnett got into an argument about the rules of the buffet. Once, Garnett got into it with one of the team's video assistants, who got to the buffet first on the team flight.
"You know the rules. Players eat first," Garnett said, according to Perkins, "Give me that (expletive). As a matter of fact, go sit in the back of the plane and don't come back up here until I tell you to."
Perkins would go on to defend the assistant coach, and he and Garnett got into it a little bit. But Perkins was laughing while recounting the events, so it's clear that this was just a funny sidenote from his time with the Celtics.
It's easy to imagine Garnett defending this rule with a passion, just as he was able to defend the paint with passion during his time in Boston.
