Smart passes Larry Legend on this all-time franchise list

On Friday night, Marcus Smart reached another important milestone.

During the team's matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Smart made the 650th 3-point shot of his Celtics career.

The significance of that number? He officially passed C's legend Larry Bird for the fourth-most 3-point shots made in team history.

Here's a look at the shot that put Smart ahead of Bird.

It's pretty remarkable that Smart has made that many 3-point shots during his career. He doesn't have a reputation as a very good shooter, but he has steadily worked to improve his accuracy from deep. And over the last three seasons, Smart has shot a respectable 35.2 percent from behind the arc.

Now, Smart is trailing just three players on the 3-point makes list: Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker, and Ray Allen.

At the current clip that Smart is making threes -- he's averaging 1.9 makes per game -- it will take him about 78 games to match Allen.

So it would seem that in about a calendar year or so, we could be talking about Smart moving up on this list once again.
