Will Pritchard play in Summer League title game for Celtics?

The Boston Celtics will play the Sacramento Kings in the 2021 NBA Summer League championship game in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, but it's unknown whether Payton Pritchard will play the for C's.

The 2020 first-round draft pick dominated the competition during the team's first three Summer League games, helping the Celtics start 3-0. He left the team before its fourth game against the Philadelphia 76ers for a "prior engagement he made months ago," Celtics summer league head coach Joe Mazzulla said last week.

After dominating in the Portland Pro-Am, Pritchard tweeted Sunday night, "Back in Vegas on Tuesday for summer league chip!"

Celtics roster reset: Another move coming after Schroder deal?

So, is he going to re-join the Celtics for their title game against the Kings?

“I know everyone saw what he tweeted, and we’re in discussions about whether it makes sense for him to come back,” Mazzulla told reporters Monday. “We’re still communicating and working through that. As a coach obviously you want him there, I think we’ll know more in the morning.”

Pritchard averaged 20.3 points, 8.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds in three Summer League appearances for the Celtics. It would be great if he played Tuesday, but the Celtics will be favored to beat the Kings regardless.
